‘Longmire’ season 4 hopes: Support Craig Johnson’s new book, Lou Diamond Phillips introduction

Longmire -What does supporting a book have to do with supporting the future of any given show? It’s a complicated question, but let’s answer it in the simplest way we know how: Without Craig Johnson’s Longmire books, there is no “Longmire” TV show. By the transitive property of television, we then wouldn’t be here fighting for a season 4 renewal.

Therefore, we figured it best to bring it to your attention that Johnson has a collection of short stories coming out October 21 entitled Wait for Signs, which contains a dozen short stories written over the past decade or so. Many of these stories about Walt Longmire were originally sent out by Johnson annually on Christmas Eve, but this is the first time they are all in one volume. Also, there’s a new story thrown in for good measure.

One other appealing thing about this particular book, even beyond the stories themselves, is the introduction written by series star Lou Diamond Phillips (Henry Standing Bear). It’s a nice little way to bring the worlds of publishing and television together; plus, it’s another reason for show fans to get into the books. We’ve always been a fan of the short story form; you can get into a story and finish it, and then come back whenever you want to dive into another.

The only thing that supporting the books will do is further show that there are Longmire fans out there in all mediums, and that is definitely a good thing as we continue going down this long and winding road to a decision. We do feel like one is in the not-too-distant future, but if you’re looking for specifics on what we know about this and similar processes in the past, the link here is recommended reading.

You can pre-order Johnson’s new book now over at Amazon, so give it a look if you’re interested. We’ll of course have more “Longmire” news as it comes out; you can also click here to join our CarterMatt Newsletter, and get further details via email. (Photo via Warner Horizon.)
