‘Doctor Who’ season 8, episode 8 preview: Meet the ‘Mummy on the Orient Express’

The latest -We’ve seen a few serious “Doctor Who” stories throughout this season, and also some that give us a reason to laugh. We’ve also seen classic episodes (“Listen”), and also some that we’d rather forget about (last week’s awkward “Kill the Moon”).

Luckily, Saturday’s “Mummy on the Orient Express” seems like something that is for the most part entertaining. It was referenced many years ago, and we’re glad to finally get around to this bizarre story of a mysterious mummy aboard a train car. Once you see it, apparently you only have 66 seconds to live before it comes over and takes your life. In the sneak peek below, it seemingly does so to a poor woman who may as well be this series’ version of the Dowager Countess from “Downton Abbey.”

In the end, we’re excited to see what happens here, and also if the Doctor can overcome something that was important from last week’s episode: The sense of separation that happened with Clara. Is she no longer going to be a part of his life? She finally decided that she had enough of his treatment and veiled dishonesty, and understandably so. With that being said, we’d be somewhat crushed if this is the way her story ends. Given that she will at least be the star of the next handful of episodes, we’re assuming that in one way or another, she will still be back. It’s just to be seen if she will be back aboard this particular train car.

Come back tomorrow, as we will have a full review for this episode online then!
