Did Teresa, Joe Giudice’s ‘Watch What Happens Live’ interview score huge ratings
Bravo was certainly both quick and keen to hype up their big interview featuring Teresa and Joe Giudice on “Watch What Happens Live,” and we do understand why. This was the first interview for the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars since they were sentenced to prison, and as TV viewers, we somehow have this bizarre fixation on witnessing people go through terribly tough times. Bravo even stretched all their footage out across multiple hours.
The ratings came in late Monday, and one thing was almost perfectly clear: The public fascination was there. Around 3.2 million people as a whole watched this series of events play out, and the biggest question we wonder here is why. If these were people without a reality TV show, we would understand why their perspective was important. Given that Teresa’s impending court case has been a “Real Housewives” story all season, though, we are instead left to wonder if there was any new information in here. The narrative was the same; the only difference was the devastation of knowing that prison was a reality, and not something that could be escaped. From what we father, Teresa was shocked by the ruling, while Joe more or less saw his fate coming.
The future of these two on Bravo is something worth watching. We feel like this is a storyline the network will want to follow, given that these are white-collar crimes and it can be sold as a redemption story in a way that a different crime could not. However, it’ll be hard to get footage of Teresa while she is behind bars.
