‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 video: Ian Somerhalder answers questions over ‘dinner’

On the premiere of “The Vampire Diaries,” there really was not a whole lot of Ian Somerhalder’s Damon, especially when it comes to scenes that actually are in the proper canon for his character. Just think about it for a minute here. While there were all those little dream sequences with Elena, they were simply that. She was imagining him thanks to the power of whatever she was taking.

The only actual footage of Damon himself came in the tail end of the episode, where he and Bonnie were sitting down and enjoying a pancake breakfast like they were characters on an old TGIF sitcom. Not only that, but Damon seemed to be rocking the flannel.

So to help make up for the lack of Damon this past week, Somerhalder recently sat down and answered some questions over “dinner” in a new video posted by The CW. There’s no question that this clip is fairly cheesy, but we do still find it fun. Ian just has a good way of communicating with the fans, and letting them now how much he enjoys the show, and the experience of playing a very beloved character like Damon.

Hopefully, we are going to receive some answers in regards to Damon’s whereabouts soon, and most indications are that we will. Within the span of a few episodes, we’ll learn a little more about what happened to him and Bonnie, at least in terms of where they are. From there, the mystery will evolve a little bit, and the new order of business will be trying to determine whether or not they can come back to the real world.
