‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 spoilers: Is Kaley Cuoco’s Penny obsessed with work?

At one point during the run on “The Big Bang Theory,” we never imagined that we would be typing the question that is in the title of this article. However, times do change, and we could see a very different side to Kaley Cuoco’s Penny at around the time that “The Focus Attentuation” airs come Monday, October 13.

Earlier this season, you saw a storyline that revolved by and large around how Penny managed to land a job in pharmaceutical sales, but for some reason, we haven’t really seen a whole lot in the way of developments there ever since … at least until now. Based on the official synopsis below, this may actually get in the way of her good time with Amy and Bernadette while the three are out on a road trip:

“Amy and Bernadette accuse Penny of being a ‘buzzkill’ after she gets an email from work during their Vegas weekend. Meanwhile, the guys try to invent something cool, but only come up with new ways to procrastinate.”

When you are looking at an episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” there are basically a couple of separate things that you have to judge: The premise, and then the ultimate payoff. So far, we’ll at least give credit to the show for succeeding when it comes to one of these two things. This is a fun idea, and it is different than the majority of the stuff we do end up seeing with the Penny character the majority of the time. Plus, we like the three ladies off doing their own thing, and the guys doing something when it sounds as ridiculous as this.

Now, the challenge comes in seeing if they make the story work when it airs.
