‘Gotham’ episode 3 preview: First look at ‘The Balloonman’

For some reason, every time we think of “The Balloonman,” the title for next week’s new “Gotham” episode, we think of “Spoonman” by Soundgarden. Go check that out if you want to have something stuck in your head the rest of the night.

Now, let’s get into the story itself for the Fox series. We feel like on paper, this is a pretty interesting investigation and case. It feels almost like a “Blacklist” villain, and that’s a good thing since we like to think of that show as a TV comic book with over-the-top evil-doers. We suppose that for the long-term story, what will really matter more to many of you is seeing what Oswald Cobblepot will do now that he is back within the city limits.

Take a look now at the official synopsis below:

“Detectives Gordon and Bullock track down a vigilante who is killing corrupt Gotham citizens by attaching them to weather balloons. Meanwhile, Oswald Cobblepot returns to Gotham and gets a new job close to an influential figure in the underworld.”

As of this moment, we are starting to get a little bit of a better sense as to what this show really is, and for the most part, we are definitely okay with it. It feels like a “Burn Notice” almost in that you’ve got the smaller cases, but also still the feeling that you are building towards something larger much of the time.
