ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ season 2 premiere review: Michelle Fairley arrives … and kills it

Resurrection -Casting Michelle Fairley may have been just the added punch that “Resurrection” needed, at least based on the season 2 premiere.

Admittedly, there was a bizarre bit of irony in the actress playing a woman who came back from the dead, at least for everyone who watched her on “Game of Thrones.” Still, she brought some gravitas to the Langston family as Henry and Fred’s mom Margaret, and she actually was somewhat terrifying to go along with it. This may be a good thing, though, given that she managed to talk Fred down after he was seemingly ready to kill himself.

This was not a good episode for Fred by any means, since he spent most of his time in a drunken stupor reliving some good times during his younger years.

As for the rest of the episode, Agent Bellamy had a tough time realizing what exactly happened to him in a week of his life that seemingly disappeared, and it took him just about the entire episode to figure out that he was actually one of the returned. We’d like to say it was more of a surprise, but the producers confirmed this twist all the way back at Comic-Con.

What is a little more interesting now is seeing that as a member of the returned, he is being ordered to watch over the rest as a part of a new government assignment. This is going to be awkward, no?

Despite all of these characters stories, it really doesn’t feel like all that much else happened in the premiere. Maybe now that most of the predictable stuff is over with, the show will match Fairley’s performance as a whole the rest of the way. Grade: B-.
