‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 premiere: See Mariska Hargitay’s ‘Today Show’ chat

The publicity train for Mariska Hargitay did not end with the actress appearing on Bravo’s “Inside the Actors Studio” on Monday.

Tuesday morning, the actress appeared on “The Today Show” in order to promote “Law & Order: SVU” with Hoda Kotb, and while there were some serious moments as the actress talked about how the show “educated” here on issues related to domestic violence, there is also some humor in here as she tells a story about one of the twins playing Baby Noah having no interest at all in playing a tender scene as it was written.

Specifically, she also expressed how the character getting so many new layers and things to do has shaped her decision to remain a part of the show for over a decade and a half:

“That’s the thing. That’s why I’m still here. There are still new notes being played, and after last year I was sort of wrecked emotionally. It was a very tough year … Warren [Leight], our showrunner, and I talked about it and about where do we go from here … This year feels so new, and that is why it’s so exciting. To have a baby, it is a whole other set of muscles.”

For those who haven’t heard, Hoda will also be appearing on “SVU” a little later this season in the role of herself, as she interviews who she describes as a “Lindsay Lohan” type character. Given how Lindsay has responded to anyone who has generalized her in the past, she may not be that happy with this.
