Ratings: ‘Gotham,’ ‘Scorpion’ premieres strong; ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ ‘The Voice’ down

There’s a ton to get to today when it comes to premiere week ratings, so let’s go ahead and dive right in.

The big winners – Fox scored a hit right out of the gate with “Gotham,” which posted an impressive 3.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic. If it stays anywhere near that all season, it will be fine. Meanwhile, “Scorpion” boosted a very impressive 3.3 rating boosted largely by airing after “The Big Bang Theory.” The comedy was down versus last year (when it premiered on a Thursday), but still received a 5.3 and 5.4 rating for its episodes.

Also, “The Blacklist” was a beast. With a 3.4, the show was up significantly from the season 1 finale, even if down slightly from the series premiere.

Could’ve been better – “The Voice” dropped over a full demo ratings point versus last year, and had a 3.9 that was still good enough for #2 behind “The Big Bang Theory.” Meanwhile, “Sleepy Hollow” was also down significantly from its series premiere with just a 2.0, though it had some pretty insane competition across the board.

“Dancing with the Stars” was down versus its premiere to a 2.0 rating, but that may still be a victory all things considered.

The big loser – We’re looking at “Forever,” which is not going to be around “Forever” at all. Its 1.5 rating was below both “The Blacklist” and the 1.8 for the “Under the Dome” finale.

We’ll get a better sense of some of these shows next week, when “Scorpion” does not get a lead-in of two “Big Bang Theory” episodes and “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Castle” return. Stay tuned for more of that, and for some more extensive ratings coverage that we are going to have throughout premiere week.
