‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Exec on story ahead for Coulson, cast

In just 24 hours, the second season of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” will be here, and we will get a chance to see what comes next for Coulson and company. This is a very different world than the one that was there for them at the start of season 1, and with that in mind, you can also certainly expect a very different SHIELD. Expect many surprises to enter the fold, along with some storylines that really put some of the characters through the wringer.

What we are most excited about, though, is the notion that these characters are all back once again to being Davis battling the Goliaths of the world. It is a long time since we’ve seen them in that role, and we’re looking forward to it again.

For a few more teasers on that, including how Clark Gregg’s character will handle his new role as director and how they will operate with limited resources, take a look at executive producer Jed Whedon’s new comments per Entertainment Weekly:

“We get to see them as true underdogs for the first time. You got a little taste of it at the end of last season, but most of the season we had all the support and all the billions of dollars we could ever want behind us and now we get to see them as a true underdog. We also get to see Coulson stepping into a new role and not only have to wrestle with how do you rebuild something from the ground up, but what does it mean to be the boss of it?”
