‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11 spoilers: A big Owen story lies ahead

OwenIn the midst of Cristina’s exit from “Grey’s Anatomy,” we do feel like we have spent a ton of time talking about how her departure will impact Meredith, and whether or not her relationship with Derek will in turn fall apart without another sounding board.

With that being said, we feel almost like Kevin McKidd’s Owen has been somewhat lost in the shuffle. This man is a huge part of the show still, and we are interested in seeing more of what he devotes his time to now that he fully understands that there is no longer hope between him and his ex-wife. You will see more of this play out in the third episode of the season entitled “Got to Be Real” (airing on Thursday, October 9), where he is going to recruit the help of Callie (Sara Ramirez) for a project:

“Owen introduces Callie to the Veterans Hospital patients in hopes that she will help them with her robotic limb lab, Jo becomes jealous of Alex and Meredith’s friendship, and Maggie continues to confide in Richard. Meanwhile, Alex and Bailey prepare to go in front of the board.”

Through this synopsis, you can also clearly tell that Maggie is going to have a huge part in the show this year. We’ve seen this in numerous stories to this point, and it almost makes us wonder why this character is not being billed as a regular. Maybe ABC is taking her on a trial run, or there is some sort of natural end date for this story.

As for Owen, we mostly just want to see the man find a way to be happy after all that he has gone through. Maybe throwing himself into work for a time will help him to do that.
