‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: ’24’ alum to play blast from Tony’s Philadelphia past

The latest -Do you remember that Tony worked in Philadelphia long before his “NCIS” days? Typically, the show references his Baltimore past more often than anything else, and we saw specific scenes all about that on the show last season.

However, the show will bring Philly (first referenced back during season 1) back into the fold in the upcoming season 12 episode “Parental Guidance Suggested.” According to TVLine, former “24” actress Marisol Nichols (a part of that somewhat-unfortunate sixth season, though it wasn’t her fault) has signed up to play the part of ATF Special Agent Zoe Keates, who worked with him so many years ago. The two will reunite on a case that requires the ATF and NCIS to work together.

We know that the obvious temptation here is to label the character “new Tony love interest,” but there’s really no evidence of that right now save for that the two worked together at some point. (Oh, and that she is a woman, and he is a man.) We know that he already has one love interest already this season, and that the plan is to not necessarily tie the character down to any one person. We’ll just have to see where this story goes.

The new season of “NCIS” is set to premiere on CBS Tuesday, with an episode that could feature Tony taking on a little bit more of an in-charge role at Headquarters, while Gibbs and McGee take off for a dangerous mission in Russia. Stay tuned, since we’ll have some more on that soon.
