‘The Fosters’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Major Crimes’ actor lands recurring role

The Fosters -When “The Fosters” does eventually return to ABC Family in early 2015, it will technically still be a part of its second season. Many of the stories from the end of the summer will carry over, and at least part of that is going to be the difficult Callie storyline after things clearly did not go her way when it comes to Robert Quinn and company.

This story, in particular, comes from the realm of casting. Per TVLine, “Major Crimes” actor Alberto De Diego is going to recur in the second half of the season as someone who could be important in Callie’s life. His character’s name is Rafael, and he works as a program director for a foster drop-in facility. Callie goes to the place for help, and it feels like he will be interested in doing his part.

As a former foster kid himself, he can relate in part to her story and struggle, but there are also some other problems that he will have to deal with. Namely, the character is going to be extremely overworked, which may be an adequate social commentary or certain people within the care system. There is a lot of work to be done, but only a small group of people who are able to do most of it.

There is no official premiere date yet for the remainder of “The Fosters,” but if we were you, we would expect the show to return at some point around the first two weeks of January.
