‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: A new tease on Mariska Hargitay, new detective

For those of you who want to start the week off with some good content related to “Law & Order: SVU,” we come bearing a gift for you today: The latest script tease featuring the new detective “Sonny” Carisi.

This tease HERE was posted on Twitter Sunday night by executive producer Warren Leight, and it is a nice little introduction to the character. In his discussion with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), we learn that he is a bit of a frequent traveler as far as visiting different SVU branches across New York City. At the same time, he seems to be a pretty courteous guy, and is skilled at what he does.

As for the reason Carisi is there in the first place, blame a lack of employees. With Amaro off doing a different sort of police work right now, the unit needed to add another new face. We’ll have to see how this story develops, but it is nice to get some new blood in there from time to time. Plus, we have a hard time imagining Danny Pino’s character being good from SVU for a particularly long stretch.

This premiere episode airs on Wednesday, September 24, and there is so much more that Benson is going to have to deal with beyond just some new faces here and there. She has to find a way to protect baby Noah and also herself from some extremely dangerous situations that stem from the last season finale.
