‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2 spoilers: It’s still about Joe

To us, “Halt and Catch Fire” was one of the revelations of the summer, even if not a whole lot of people managed to actually check it out. The show was quick, smart, and brought us something different than anything else that is on the air.

At the end of the season, we were also delivered a pretty enormous shock when Joe MacMillan decided that rather than doing the typical thing and continue forward with his Giant project, he instead did his best to burn it to the ground before jumping off into the woods. He should have been happy, but he instead was sad seemingly by the thought of what end product turned into.

For those wondering if this end means a change of pace for the show moving forward, don’t be. As co-executive producer Christopher Cantwell says to TV Guide, the tone and focus of the show will continue to be Lee Pace’s character:

“Joe for us has always been the reason that we’re here … He is the catalyst that enters everybody’s life. [Whether] he’s a constructive or destructive force, he’s the one that everyone is attached to. We want to explore how this guy continues to affect the ebb and flow of these other characters’ lives.”

With this in mind, we expect all of the other major characters, including Gordon, Cameron, and Donna, to have major roles to play. They will just continued to be tied to him in some way.
