TV Quick Hits: Jennifer Carptenter’s new show; ‘Gotham’ to Netflix; Allison Williams as Peter Pan

Jennifer Carpenter returns to TV – It’s funny that we were wondering the other day when Carpenter was going to return after eight years of “Dexter,” and we now seem to have our answer.

Carpetner has been cast in “Stanistan,” a USA Network drama picked up to pilot, and she would play the role of Marcie Post, the press secretary for Stanistan, a fictional country in the Middle East. Post is extremely smart, and helps to lead the charge informing the world about matters in the country. It sounds like there will at least be some moments of humor in here, as well, which is nice.

This is the second attempt by Carpenter to return to TV; she was a lead in the ABC pilot “Sea of Fire,” which failed to receive a pickup.

“Gotham” to land on Netflix – In what is a clear sign of faith that “Gotham” will be a big hit, Netflix has already snagged the exclusive streaming rights for the show, which is not even on the air yet.

What this deal means is that starting in September 2015, you will be able to catch the first season of the show on Netflix, and subsequent seasons would be available in the weeks prior to the next premiere. While there are no financial figures released, we’re sure that this was expensive, but maybe not at the level of “The Blacklist’s” hefty sum recently.

First look at Peter Pan – Allison Williams of “Girls” will be starring in the musical this December, and the tweet HERE gives you a first look at her in costume.

For now, we’ll say that this looks at least better than the first image NBC trotted out for “The Sound of Music Live,” but we’re going to wait to be excited for at least a little while longer.
