‘Longmire’ season 4: Is there still hope for renewal? The latest
Typically, we’ve spent the past few Mondays here at CarterMatt writing stories that are mostly speculation about the future of several characters on “Longmire,” mostly with the feeling that it would be back again for another season.
Now, we’re in a slightly different position now that A&E has canceled the show. We’re not giving up hope (and neither should you), but we have to at least tilt the focus of articles for the time being into how to help keep the show alive. One important thing to note here is that the cast, and source author Craig Johnson, are also still involved in keeping the campaign going to get the show renewed. You can see a handful of tweets below, including the first comment from Katee Sackhoff since the cancellation news. (She has had a particularly tough week, as she also had to say goodbye to a beloved pet.)
The comment above from Phillips is probably the most interesting in the context of the show’s future, and it is something that we to a certain extent expected. We imagined that there would be some interest in bringing the show back; even “Enlisted,” which had terrible ratings despite great quality, had some interest via Yahoo. The struggle is finding a way to transform that interest into commitment. This is where “Enlisted” struggled, but where “Community” succeeded earlier this summer. You have to find a way to make the budget work for a new network / streaming service, and prove that you have a following that is united and passionate.
That is why we’ll be advocating the hashtag #LongLiveLongmire for the rest of the campaign. We’re not typically in the promote-a-hashtag camp, but this is one of those occasions where it can really work. We personally feel like AMC, Netflix, WGN America, and to a lesser extent TNT are the best contenders for the show, but we will wait and see what happens.

Hard to believe that one of the best shows in years is being dropped. I would rather watch Longmire than some of the other programs that profess to be shows and are nothing more than glorified trash. Bring back “Longmire”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope the cast knows how much their fans love them & this show and are HOPING & PRAYING some other network will pick up Longmire. I will never watch another A&E show, and I’m sure I am not the ONLY one that will be boycotting them. I hope their ratings go 6 foot under.

Typical of the network to try to “Dumb Down” the audience. The reality shows are cheaper to produce, but lack the audience share they claim to own. Longmire had a good, tight plot. A cast who knew how to act, and responsible editing of the show itself. This type of format is hard to come by, and for A&E to cancel it without a good reason is beyond the pale. It’s unfortunate that other shows will suffer at the expense of a few short sighted individuals at A&E. Specifically, I’m speaking of “Criminal Minds”. A&E runs several C.M. shows back to back during the weekdays, evenings, and also on the weekends. I wonder how many people will give up on A&E entirely? Police procedurals ( which Longmire is, Just in a western backdrop.) are part of where our interests lie. Now all of the shows A&E have will suffer. Truly unfortunate.

Why don’t they take off something like the night of the Living Dead and the stupid zombies. That show is the same every time, instead of something that is decent or has a story line to it instead of junk like this. The only other show you have on A & E that is worth watching is Hell on Wheels. I’m sure that will be next. Maybe if they are not going to put Justified back on their channel, you can offer it to them. We will definitely be watching for it. Sky Blue Eyes

I agree with you! And that’s what we’re afraid of too…. that Hell on Wheels will be next. With The Glades cnx, now Longmire, A&E is working it’s way to the top of my Cancel The Network list!!!! We really hope SOMEONE picks up the next season of Longmire.

Best show since Sopranos. There is so much garbage on TV…a real shame Longmire has been cancelled.

Cancelled shows rarely get picked up by another network; however, Longmire is such a top quality show, with a lot of fans, we can hope to see Longmire next year.

It seems to me that A&E must have hired the same IDIOT executives who cancelled hit shows from other networks, like the morons who cancelled Firefly.
Why would they cancel a show that is doing so well and has so many fans? Makes no sense.
Longmire is a REAL show with a COOL story and good writing. Tired of reality shows, redneck shows like Duck Dynasty or Tougher in Alaska, so tired of shows like that.
A&E, do you know how lame you are right now? Words can not describe how bad you smell right now.
Long live Longmire!

This show can NOT end. If we have to come up with petitions, let’s do it!

I signed up on twitter so I could do this campaign, but have no clue how twitter works. Can someone explain to me how to tweet #LongLiveLongmire?
I’m a 43 yr old accountant. So I’m what the advertisers want. Please Help. Also, if it does end up cancelled for good, I’ll never buy a Dodge again, and if they renew it, my next car this fall will be a Charger.

Go to your COMPOSE NEW TWEET box on the left of your Twitter feed. Simply type in #LongLiveLongmire and click the blue Tweet button. Done! You’ve just tweeted for the first time….If you want to “tag” someone, add their Twitter handle and the @ sign. All my Longmire tweets are tagged with Craig and Adam and sometimes the Posse, as they seem to be the most active with the Twitter campaign.
