‘Sherlock’ season 4: Steven Moffat on series’ ‘devastating’ plan moving forward
Who would have thought “Sherlock” would have received so many different honors at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night? This was one of the biggest surprises to us, and the only thing more surprising than that was finding out a little of what Steven Moffat apparently has in store for the cast moving forward.
Speaking in the press room (per TVLine) for the awards show, Moffat cryptically told the tale of how they are planning something for season 4 that threw Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman for a loop. With that in mind, we can only imagine what it would do to us:
“Our plan is devastating. We practically reduced our cast to tears, telling them the plan.”
Well, maybe this is meant to be hyperbole? It is hard to say, knowing how far it still is until season 4 actually airs. The first episode back for the series is going to be the big Christmas Special, and following that one, we will then start to get a little closer to some new episodes airing most likely in 2016. That is still a long ways to go, and the only reason that we’ve had to wait this long is simply because the actors and Moffat are all so busy doing other things. (If this does upset you for whatever reason, remember that the show would probably not be on the air anymore if the actors were forced to film new episodes every year, as some other shows do.)
Of course, we’ll have some further updates every step of the way, as soon as they become available.
