‘MythBusters’ changing course, as Grant Imahara, Kari Byron, Tory Belleci exit

MythBusters -You can file this one under “news we did not see coming.” After Thursday night’s new episode of “MythBusters,” it was revealed that Grant Imahara, Kari Byron, and Tory Belleci are all leaving the show after some of them have spent more than a decade with it.

Why are we so stunned? Mostly because this is an institution, and they have formed a legion of diehard fans all their own solving myths alongside Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage. In a statement, Discovery had the following to say:

“Kari, Tory and Grant have been an incredibly important part of MythBusters for over a decade … From explosions to car crashes to even more explosions, this trio has helped shape MythBusters into the Emmy-nominated series it is today. Everyone at Discovery wants to thank them for their tireless work busting almost 1,000 myths, and we wish them all the best on their future endeavors.”

For the immediate future, the show will continue with just Jamie and Adam as the anchors of it. We do feel for the two guys, since now they have to shoulder the burden + deal with angry fans, even though neither one of them personally had anything to do with the situation at all.

Personally, we would have rather seen all three MythBusters return, but the show move itself down in terms of episode count. There are only so many cool myths at this point that need to be investigated, so we’d be cool if it just narrowed down the field to a few specials a year where everyone could still be involved.

What is your reaction now to this news, and are you going to miss having Jamie and Adam on the show? Share in the comments below, and be sure to also head over to this link if you want to get some further news on everything we cover sent right to your email inbox.
