‘Girls’ season 4 teaser: Lena Dunham stars in first look
Who says that you have to wait until closer to January to get a first look at “Girls” season 4? HBO has just uploaded their first “in production” teaser, and we have to give some credit here where credit is due for this being more or less funnier than the entire third season of the show.
Summing this clip up is also rather easy. You see Hannah Horvath, seemingly in Iowa preparing for her day at the writers’ workshop, hop on a bicycle and embark on a pretty lovely stroll while some beautiful music plays in the background. Then, she falls over, and a horde of people come over to help her.
Basically, this entire video in some ways feels like a blooper, or something that you would see on “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” We appreciate that Lena Dunham is actually trying to emphasize comedy, given that the biggest criticism that we really could offer season 4 for the most part was that it was sorely lacking in the laughs department. There was nothing about it that really had us chuckling, and we feel like Hannah become so unlikable that it was hard to watch her story most of the time. We would’ve rather by the end of it had a series of coffee-house segments with Ray and Marnie.
We’ll see how this new story goes, given that so much here is going to be different. Adam Driver will still be around despite his “Star Wars” gig, but it will be interesting to see just what role he plays now given Adam’s success in the theater. Meanwhile, how will the other characters fit in now to Hannah’s world?
