ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4 spoilers: On new scenes with Emily VanCamp, Brian Hallisay

“Revenge” does like to throw in a romance every now and then, and you will see a new potential one this coming season between Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and newcomer Ben (Brian Hallisay). The latter character enters the fold thanks to a seemingly innocent connection, but the two will grow close and it could possibly become an epic romance down the road.

For the time being, though, a practical theme seems to be taking some time to allow this relationship to develop a little bit. As for the reason why, Sunil Nayar tells TVLine that the show has a greater purpose in mind for the man beyond just being the romantic flavor of the week:

“In the scenes they’ve had together so far, they’ve had great energy … But we want to take our time with these things; Emily has so much she’s already dealing with, we don’t want to be casual about the next person she chooses to give her heart to. That said, there’s definitely an energy between them that we’re enjoying. We didn’t bring him on to be Emily’s love interest, but by the same token, we didn’t not bring him on for that.”

We’re fine with a slow burn here, mostly because it would be a little strange for Emily to jump another romance immediately after what happened with Aiden. With that being said, though, why couldn’t this other romance be with someone like Jack? We’re still waiting for that one to happen…
