‘The X Factor’ UK season 10 premiere date practically confirmed
Why does ITV wait so long to confirm the premiere date for “The X Factor”? We’ve never understood this facet of British television. Almost everyone knows when the series is going to be coming out, so why not just go ahead and make it clear already.
While we cannot say that this is completely official just yet, go ahead and mark August 30 down in your calendar for a variety of different reasons. First of all, this is when the show first came on the air last year (approximately anyway), and this is only a few days before the show starts its journey in America on AXS TV for the first time. This was a big acquisition for Mark Cuban’s network as they try to bring something new to television.
Also, ITV has announced some of their annual specials leading up the premiere of the show across their family of networks, and surprise! They are all leading up to August 30. There’s really no further evidence that you need.
All we know is that the network definitely feels the pressure for the ratings to be big this year, and the British tabloids were particularly obsessed with the notion that Simon Cowell could somehow ride in like a knight in shining armor and save the franchise after some declines. We’re not so sold on that happening, given that almost everything in the singing show genre right now is down versus the year before. There’s just not a whole lot of intrigue at the moment in a format that has been done to death.
