‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ spoilers: Patti LaBelle lands meaty role
The Ryan Murphy casting miracle continues for “American Horror Story: Freak Show.” Just in case having Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Michael Chiklis as a part of your cast was not enough already, now you can officially add Patti LaBelle to the list.
Per a report from TVLine, the legendary singer (who is not actually going to appear on this show) will appear in four episodes as the mother to Gabourey Sidibe’s character. Also, she is going to have a key role in working to solve the mystery of Twisty the Clown Killer, who is presumably one of the show’s Big Bads.
How in the world is Ryan able to secure so many industry icons for this show? We imagine that much of it stems from the fact that “American Horror Story” is an institution on TV already, and these actors know that they are going to get a particularly meaty or exciting storyline to play. It’s not like this show has some secret stash of money that others do not that they can offer people to take part.
This new season will premiere on FX starting in October, and the story largely revolves around a freak show operated by Jessica Lange’s character in Jupiter, Florida in the 1950s. As you would expect, though, from here on out things start to slowly unravel into a form of TV madness that should feel both familiar and new.
