‘The Blacklist’ season 2: James Spader stars in latest promotional art

The Blacklist logo any seasonSometimes, all TV networks can get a little lazy when it comes to how they promote some of their shows. Luckily, we’re not seeing anything like that at all when it comes to NBC and “The Blacklist.”

For the past few weeks now, the network has gone pretty all-out with the show’s promotional efforts; we say this as someone who saw the show everywhere outside of the convention center at Comic-Con. This new poster is pretty sweet, since it has a great hook to it, and we like the red-and-black color scheme. It suits both the Raymond Reddington name, and also of course the very title of the show.

To us, the obvious downside to this poster is that really, it’s not altogether different than anything else that NBC has done to promote the show so far. We’ve seen the same image of Spader plastered on other posters, but we sort-of understand why. It’s a cool image, and with the guy’s duties spread between this show right now and “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” it’s not like he has all of the time in the world to come in and do whatever you need for him to.

Season 2 of “The Blacklist,” as the post teases, will be back on NBC September 22. Expect at least a few more answers to the show’s primary mysteries in the early going, along with information regarding Mary-Louise Parker’s mysterious new character. Krysten Ritter will also guest-star in the first episode. The show knows now that it is a hit, and with that, the challenge now comes in trying on a weekly basis to live up to expectations.
