‘Criminal Minds’ season 10 spoilers: First photo of Jennifer Love Hewitt
Love Jennifer Love Hewitt? Then we would imagine that you probably also love the fact that she is going to be the latest addition to the BAU on “Criminal Minds” season 10. Her casting took many (especially us) by surprise, and for a number of different reasons. What was the biggest one? Think along the lines of the fact that you typically don’t seem familiar actors signing on for such big roles late in their series’ run (with maybe Ted Danson on “CSI” being a notable exception).
You can see the first photo of Hewitt as Kate above via TV Guide, and speaking to the publication, showrunner Erica Messer makes it clear why she is the perfect addition to this team:
“Kate is smart, charming, and wise for her years … Her background is criminal psychology, and her passion comes from wanting to make the world a safe place. She’s had a lot of personal loss that makes her a patriot and a nurturing figure to those in her personal and work families.”
Are we excited to see what Hewitt brings to the show? We suppose so, but for the time being a lot of that is up in the air to us. Her entire effectiveness will depend on what the writers give her, and it could be a challenge moving her into an ensemble show after her time on “The Client List,” which was a show that really focused around her for the entirety of its run. (Also, the two are very different sorts of shows.)
What do you think about Hewitt’s character on the show in theory, and are you excited to see what comes for her on “Criminal Minds”? I don’t like Jennifer Love Hewitt as an actress and I’m hoping she doesn’t stay long. As long as they keep the rest of the crew I’m happy….they don’t need anyone else. (if that’s the best they can do)

From Messer’s description, it appears that another Mary Sue will be joining the team. Her background story is already annoying, and now this description is making her look boring and cliche already. I don’t agree with the inclusion of a new character, but to add insult to injury they had to cast JHL?!?! There are literally dozens of better options than this one.
This show became very hard to watch since Messer turned it into JJ and Morgan/Garcia’s hour, and now this?
If the CBS doesn’t want to produce more seasons, why don’t they just say so, instead of murdering the show like this?

She really needs to pull it out of the bag to convince me to be honest. No disrespect to Ms Hewitt but taking her seriously and connecting with her in a serious and dark role compared to her previous ‘soapy’ characters is hard to fathom. The jury is out but I’d love to be pleasantly surprised. We’ll see….

I actually think she’s too big of a star to join Criminal Minds. But she can do it. If you have seen her SVU episode then u know she can nail it. Carter, I read in a forum that Ms. Messer will create a love angle between Kate and Reid. Any news on that one?

I’m very disappointed in CBS’s decision to cast Ms. Hewitt on Criminal Minds. I do not enjoy her acting and I don’t think she will be an asset to this show. To me, this is a very risky casting decision because Criminal Minds is an aging show. In order for it to survive, the audience needs to connect with its characters. Those of us who have been viewers from the beginning have stayed loyal throughout many cast changes. I am honestly warring with myself though as to whether I will watch this season of CM because of Ms. Hewitt’s being cast.
I just hope this isn’t the end for CM because CBS felt it needed to plug Ms. Hewitt into a program simply because she’s been bouncing around the network for quite some time but can’t seem to sustain a show.
I hate thinking of being disloyal to my favorite show, but I dislike Ms. Hewitt’s acting so much.
