‘America’s Got Talent’ rankings: Jaycob Curlee, Mat Franco, Aerial Animation top picks

America's Got Talent -We’re back with another week of “America’s Got Talent” rankings, and we’re also hoping to continue here a good streak of predicting who will advance onward. Last week, the only error we had was swapping Julia Goodwin and Emily West; we feel pretty confident about the list this time. There are a few pretty obvious acts that will advance, and the debate this week comes down to a few questions:

  • Will America love cowboys more than awkward comic?
  • Are all singers necessarily worthy of going through?

As always, our rankings are based on performance quality, editing, and past voting history for similar acts on the show.

2,000. Juan-Carlos – We are current estimating that there are thousands of people in the audience more talented than him, and therefore more worthy of advancing to the next round.

11. Livy, Matt, and Sammy – A band of young performers with little screen time. It feels better suited for a younger talent show.

10. Hart Dance Team – Similarly, we feel like if you are a dance act who wants to advance, you have to be pretty memorable by around this point in the competition. We’re not quite sure that they are.

9. Andrey Moraru – We feel like he will be very good, but as a gymnast / acrobat, you’re not going to get a ton of votes. He’s hurt from the get-go.

8. Darik Santos – We find him funny, but he’s a more awkward version of Taylor Williamson. He ventures at times on being too awkward, and he’s going to have a hard time with Heidi Klum on the panel.

7. Mara Justine – As a young singer with a good talent, but we’re not that sure that young singers are something that the show really wants to get behind here. We haven’t seen one win the whole show since the very first season.

6. Loop Rawlins – Very good at what he does, and it’s the sort of great cowboy act that we could see as a part of a Vegas show. He’s going to run into the same problem, though, as many others with this category: Proving that there is enough versatility here. It’s unfair in a way since singers get away with doing different songs every time, but this is just the reality of the situation.

5. John and Andrew – They are very good dancers, but so much of their early story was about their unlikely partnership. They’ll need to move beyond that Tuesday if they want to advance.

4. Aerial Animation – Her audition was a little bit simple from a visual perspective, but she’ll have more of a budget to work with this time. She’s doing something similar to Kenichi Ebina from last year, but with an aerial act rather than dance. We’re intrigued.

3. Acte II – We actually weren’t the biggest fans the first time, but the reality here is that America loves opera singers, strangely enough. The majority of them on this show tend to make it very far, and there’s no reason to doubt this one yet, either.

2. Mat Franco – We’ve really dug some of his close-up cards tricks, mostly because that shows that he has really skill in dedication. If you can master these, then you are much more equipped to tackle bigger stunts than the average magic act.

1. Jaycob Curlee – This is going to be Miguel Dakota all over again. He’s a nice young man with a good voice. America eats that sort of stuff up, and unless he bombs, he’ll probably be an easy ticket to the next round.
