‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: The writers return to work!
“Law & Order: SVU” had a heck of a long season 15, and the fact that the writers and the cast stuck around for more immediately following that just shows how they were all desperately in need of a break.
Luckily, they’ve all had that very break now, and are set to get back to making some more stellar scripts. In a post on Twitter, the writers room confirmed that they are back at it today. They will be taking part in this process now for a very long time, and the job of a TV writer can often be a crazy one, in between brainstorming, tying together different episodes from different writers, and also figuring out what you want some of the overall arcs to ultimately be.
The 16th season premieres on NBC on Wednesday, September 24, and from there on out, you will see a variety of different stories potentially. The difference between this story and season 15, though, is that we’re not rolling into new episodes now with the same sort of crazy cliffhanger as what we had with the whole William Lewis case. He is now gone for good, but we’re sure that there will be a different sort of long-term adversary that surfaces soon enough. (Remember: He or she doesn’t have to necessarily be a killer or a rapist in order to be an adversary. They can come in a variety of different forms.)

Let’s hope that the writers keep up the great job that they did last year. It’s not easy writing 24 episodes a season(they have at least 22 to go). The contracts of Kelli Giddish, Danny Pino, Ice-T, etc. will expire after this season, so another strong season is necessary so that everyone will be re-signed for a season 17. We don’t need any more reality shows. if anything, we need reality shows where people aren’t eliminated; they are permanently cancelled. If you want to see the show end after season 16, go watch something else. Some of us want the show to continue. SVU is one of the very few reasons to watch anything on NBC if you don’t watch comedies. If NBC doesn’t want the show after this season, please offer it to another station. More later.

I hope season 16 brings about cancellation finally.
