ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Molly Quinn on Alexis’ love life moving forward

What lies ahead for Alexis on “Castle” season 7? This is a mystery that we’ve long wondered, given that the cliffhanger regarding Rick is something that seemingly would hurt her very much.

Molly Quinn was present at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend in order to promote the Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast, and she of course opened up some on what the story could lie ahead for her character. Speaking to TVLine, she in particular touched on the hot-button issue of whether or not we could see Alexis have another love interest in the future, and how the negative reaction to her relationship with Pi may influence that:

“I really liked Pi, I thought people were going to really enjoy that! … I don’t think we get the response that we were wanting to get [from an Alexis love interest] … I think fans want to see [Alexis] unencumbered maybe. I actually like that better. It’s more fun for me to play off of what my character is going through versus what she is going through in a relationship, especially with [everything else that is going on] … I don’t think she is a very fun dater. She’s a chess player.”

In the end, we do think that an Alexis romance could someday work, but it would have to be handled a little more organically within the universe of the show. The problem with Pi was that we didn’t get to know him, and he immediately showed up and was thought of as a freeloader right away by staying in Castle’s loft and not being particularly respectful about it at all.
