‘The Bachelorette’ finale: Nick Viall speaks out after Andi Dorfman – fantasy suite reveal
On “The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose,” Nick Viall made what was quite possibly the most controversial comment in the show’s history in saying that he and Andi Dorfman had sex in the fantasy suite. Just hearing that alone, you would want to consider calling him such things as desperate, or someone with no respect for privacy.
However, consider the context. This came right after Andi claimed that she never loved him, despite on many occasions reassuring him that everything was going to be okay with the two and coming almost as close to telling him she loved him as possible. There was probably some anger when he said this and some confusion, but we also feel like this never would’ve happened had Andi been willing to talk with him before the live special.
Nick didn’t get too much into his specific fantasy suite comment in a post-show chat with People Magazine, but he did reiterate that there were reasons why he felt so heartbroken:
“It’s hard to misread some [little things] … A lot of that stuff off camera … [like] when you tell someone you love them and they say ‘I wish I could say things back’ – you’re not supposed to assume things, but there’s not much room for interpretation.”
What Josh really did here to us was show that the format of “The Bachelorette” is in some ways flawed. Andi probably knew Josh was her guy around hometowns, but she had to continue to lead people on for the next few weeks for the sake of TV. With that being said, she could have not slept with Nick in the fantasy suite, especially if she knew that he wasn’t going to be the guy. It’s not like he and Josh were going to exchange notes after the fact.
We’ll have our podcast for the finale up a little later, and you can see that at the link here. Also, be sure to sign up if you want to score some additional TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.

She needed a tie-breaker of course. Up until the fantasy suite, they were neck to neck.

She had to try things out just in case things were not quite right.

that was a classless move by Nick – To me, just proves she made the right decision. Nick was a D-Bag from the get go, this final public dig just proves it. Frankly, their scenes throughout the season were so so boring – I never witness this deep “intellectual” connection, in my opinion the poor guy could barely construct a simple sentence let alone convey intellectual prowess. Total dud – so glad Andi saw it in time! whew

Yes! Andi should have had the courage to meet with Nick and get it all out in one of the private conversations/meetings he respectfully requested. She didn’t do that. Therefore, he had no other option but to try and express his feelings and ask his questions at the after the rose show. He struggled with how to do that in such a public forum. Andi should take some accountablity and realize she too – is not perfect and not get all pissed off, mad and attacking when someone says something that she doesn’t like about herself but has truth to it. I think Andi is a great person and I’m glad she found happiness and I hope it lasts. But, don’t turn it all around on Nick like he was the problem. Andi knows what she did and how she could have handled things maybe a little better. She should have let him go long before the “morning of”….. It was cruel not to do that. Especially if she knew she loved Josh the :whole time”. Get real people. Everyone KNOWS what happens in the Fantasy Suite. It was pretty clear that Andi had personal relations with both men. When she sent Chris home it was pretty obvious what would happen with the other two. So for her to act all shoked that what happens in the fantasy suite is “private”. Privacy is given up when you sign up for the show. Seriously? Ugggg…. Get real people.
