‘Doctor Who’ season 8 premiere to air in cinemas around the world
Clearly, “Doctor Who” enjoyed making the season 8 premiere into a cinematic event so much that they are interested in doing so again.
According to a new report from DoctorWho.tv, the BBC is preparing to have showings of the season 8 premiere, and the first episode featuring Peter Capaldi, in select movie theaters around the globe on August 23. We know that there are people out there who will responds to this by wondering why people would pay for something that they can get at home for free, and the only logical response is just that this show really has a sort of community feel for it. Everyone loves to feel like they are involved and a part of the fandom, and there’s a sense of fun that can come from watching the premiere episode with other Whovians … especially while dressed as Doctors from seasons past.
The promotional campaign for season 8 has already been substantially different than the ones that we have seen in past seasons. For one, this time around there was not a panel at Comic-Con, largely due to the fact that the show is getting ready to tour all over the world with Capaldi and his co-star Jenna Coleman. They are certainly doing something a little bit different in order to capitalize on the popularity of the series all over the world.
After the premiere episode airs, you will still have a variety of different opportunities to watch episodes from within the comfort of your own home. All of season 8 will be run consecutively, and there will also be a Christmas Special at the very end of the road to cap things off.
