‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Is STRIKE on the way? New casting suggest so
While “Agents of SHIELD” may be trying as hard as possible to keep most of their castings for season 2 under wraps right now, they finally were kind enough to let a pretty major teaser on the new season drop while at Comic-Con on Friday.
Specifically, the show announced that British actor Nick Blood has been booked to play the role of Lance Hunter. He is the director of S.T.R.I.K.E. (Special Tactical Reserve for International Key Emergencies), and therefore the British version in a sense of Phil Coulson. While it has not been confirmed yet that he is specifically with STRIKE on the show or that he holds this title, it’s safe to assume that this is the direction that the show is going with the role.
Bringing Hunter on board for the second season would be a very smart move for many reasons, starting with the simple fact that it would allow the show to continue to implement comic stories without having to implement some of the most-famous heroes in the Marvel universe, therefore saving them for films. To us, this feels like it is going to be the best of all worlds, and make the greatest percentage of fans happy while keeping to the studio’s plan.
But, we’re also reading a lot into this right now. Given that the show is still so early in production on new episodes, there is a lot of time for things to change and a lot of time for the story to be fleshed out. Plus, there’s even more scoop still to come from the panel and beyond.
For now, let’s just as the following: Do you like the idea of Hunter coming aboard “Agents of SHIELD”? Let us know in the comments, and head over here to super-charge your email inbox with updates from our CarterMatt Newsletter.
