‘Arrow’s’ John Barrowman, Susan Boyle, more appear at Commonwealth Games
What in the world are the Commonwealth Games? We imagine many in America right now asking that very question. John Oliver explained it well on this past weekend’s edition of “Last Week Tonight,” and you can see more on that in the video over here.
Now, we turn to some of the people you may know who were taking part in the Opening Ceremonies in Scotland today. The list includes such people as “Arrow” star John Barrowman, who has also done “Torchwood” and done a good bit of presenting across the pond.
Also, Susan Boyle of “Britain’s Got Talent” fame was also present, which makes some sense given that her story being from a tiny Scottish village is one of the reasons why she took off on her way to superstardom in the first place. Boyle performed “Mull of Kintyre” right around the time that Queen Elizabeth II first arrived to the games.
For the most part, reaction from those watching the games on Twitter as of late has been mixed, though we’re trying to figure out the reasons why. Was it become these games truly were terrible, or because everyone is trying to compare it to the London Opening Ceremonies from two years ago? If it’s the latter, then this may be one of the most unfair things that we’ve ever heard of. There’s no way that this can producer a similar level of performance! Also, we still prefer this just because it has Barrowman and he may be one of our favorite people ever.
Still, we’ll have some further news and highlights from these games if they come up … at least in terms of a TV perspective. We’re not going to suddenly morph into a sports site.
