‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: Could Sean Bean really return?
Remember the days when Ned Stark was the main man on HBO’s “Game of Thrones“? For those who were luckily not spoiled on the George R.R. Martin books at the time (we were one of them), seeing the death of this character was one of the biggest shocks of the year. It was definitive proof that almost anything could happen on this show, and it managed to really play into the show’s hand well as it got closer to some of its other big events, whether you are talking about the Red Wedding or the death of Joffrey in season 4.
Typically, death on the show (notice we said the show and not the book here) means that you’re gone forever, but is it possible that there could be a Sean Bean cameo in the future? This is a fun idea floated by Vulture in a new interview with the actor, given their theory that they might show Bran flashbacks on the show to tie into a valuable part of his story. Based on what Bean had to say as a response, he’s certainly down for more Ned:
“I’ve definitely got some unfinished business that needs to be resolved there. I’m obviously not Jon Snow’s dad. And you need that to be revealed at some point, don’t you? So Bran would kind of be the one having the flashback, and he would see Ned praying, right? And revealing those things? You never know what those guys are going to do with that. It’s got to be something special. But I’m into that. I certainly would be into that. Print that! Give them a nudge.”
Bean has spent his time since leaving the show preparing his new TNT series “Legends,” which premieres a little later this season. However, there would be a little window in his schedule right now in the event that the show wanted to bring him back. While we wouldn’t want “Game of Thrones” to become a sea of dead characters returning, it’s been so long since we’ve seen the Stark patriarch that it would be nice to have him around again.
