‘The Following’ season 3 spoilers: Meet Ryan Hardy’s new girlfriend

It wouldn’t be “The Following” without a new love interest for Ryan Hardy, right? Well, let’s just hope that this one has a better ending than his past two. (He though Claire was dead for a long time, and Lily ended up being a psychopath.)

What we now about this new character for the time being is as follows. According to TV Guide, she is an emergency room doctor who also happens to have an eight-year old daughter. This all seems to be perfect news for Hardy, since it suggests a certain element of normalcy. Plus, she can be there for him in the event that someone tortures him within a few minutes of his life (which seems to be pretty likely at this point).

Where is our excitement level for this? It’s somewhere along the level of “torn.” We want to see Hardy have another chance at love, mostly because we think that there is a normal reasonably-caring man somewhere in there. Unfortunately, at the same time the track record here makes us worried that anyone who gets too close to him will just automatically be killed off, tortured, or have something else terrible happen to them. We’re not so much a fan of seeing any of that happen. There are already so many times that this show can repeat itself again and again.

There is no firm premiere date yet for the new season of “The Following,” but we would tell you to expect the show back on TV at some point in January or February. This is, after all, just following the trajectory of past years.
