‘The X Factor’ notes: Alex & Sierra’s ‘Scarecrow’ video; Fifth Harmony on ‘Today Show’
Today is turning out to be a big day for a pair of “X Factor” USA alum, at least in that they are both trying to get their music out there to the world.
We start here with recent champs Alex & Sierra, who just debuted their long-awaited music video to their single “Scarecrow.” It’s a sweet idea for a video that focuses on what you would want these two to emphasize right now: Their relationship, their music, and the sort of emotions that tie to listening to their music. The video is always bright and hopeful, and it should help them get some more traffic. With the song starting to be pushed now to Hot AC radio, this may be the real tool that they need to expand beyond their present fan base. There’s little doubt to us that the superfans are going to eat this up, but in the end they need to build on this following, as well.
Fifth Harmony hit up “Today” – Fifth Harmony is also coming off of the recent release for their music video “Bo$$,” and they took to NBC’s “Today Show” as a part of their Summer Concert Series today to perform that and more, including their first successful single “Miss Movin’ On.”
This performance did reflect to us accurately just what sort of group that they want to be, and that is a pop / R&B ensemble with as much of a focus on dancing as there is singing. The girls can put on a show, but they need to hope that this new song can latch on some new fans to them. We know that the general reaction to “Bo$$” and its lyrics so far has been pretty polarizing.
