‘The Walking Dead’ season 5: Andrew J. West talks Gareth in ‘Talking Dead’ preview

AMC is further doing everything that they can to monopolize “The Walking Dead” on TV, and that includes airing a big “Talking Dead” preview special on Sunday night. You’ll hear from showrunner Scott Gimple and so many more as they set up the season, and you will also see some of Chris Hardwick out at the set in Atlanta.

One brief example of this can be seen in the video clip below, which features him speaking in a chat with Andrew J. West, who you otherwise know as the character Gareth. He is relatively new to the show, and thanks to that, we really do not know a whole lot about him. West gives you a couple of clues in the clip about his survivalist mentality, and there is going to be a whole lot more here discussed in the special.

The one thing that we feel we can say with some certainty is that this is going to be a pretty big season ahead for Gareth, given that West was promoted to a regular before it even began, and his appearance in the finale earlier this year was meant just as an introduction into what is to come. Hopefully it’ll be great things, and we are going to have a group of people at Terminus who can be genuinely awesome villains. The bar was set high with The Governor, and while we feel like the second half of season 4 was the best block of episodes the show has ever done, you really cannot sustain that over the course of an entire series. You need to mix it up, and it’s time for the show’s next great villain to emerge.
