‘Big Brother 16’ live feed spoilers: Caleb’s bad day; Paola pouts

Here is the problem with “Big Brother 16” making so much of their crazy stuff happen overnight in between the nominations and the Battle of the Block: What else is there to talk about today?

We imagine that this is not going to be some sort of regular occurrence that this is handled in such a way, and was most-likely set up like this so that fewer people have to work at CBS on Independence Day, and can instead go off and watch the fireworks somewhere. But this lull on July 4 has already made one guy emotional in Caleb, who teared up all morning about all of the guys in the military he was with who didn’t make it back. His entire family is apparently full of veterans, so he had Frankie tell everyone in the house why he was so emotional. Maybe this is genuine, and maybe this is a ploy to garner sympathy and make him come across as weaker. We’re not trying to be cynical, but this is a game and this sort of stuff happens all the time.

Meanwhile, today has been a complete pity party for Paola, who has realized that she is already the Spencer of the season and could spend almost the whole summer on the block because she’s terrible in challenges and nobody is threatened about her strategic game. She should be out there trying to make bigger alliances, but she’s not. It’s hard to sympathize for someone who is not playing the game to their fullest capacity, even if it must stink to be on the block so much. Zach actually hinted to Donny this afternoon that it may be better to get rid of Paola if she stays, and we agree with that. You don’t really want a permanent pawn in the game since eventually you could be on the block with them, and consequently going home.
