‘Glee’ season 6: Chris Colfer not fired, victim of Twitter hack

Kurt -Someone out there clearly wanted to send the “Glee” fandom into a panic on Thursday, and it all came courtesy of a message from the Twitter account of Chris Colfer saying that the actor had been “let go from the cast” of the show due to “personal issues.”

Speaking to Gossip Cop, Colfer’s manager says that he was most likely the victim of a hack, which caused the entire internet to freak out in the way that it did. After all, the idea of one of the show’s first cast members leaving before the end would be earth-shattering. Kurt Hummel is one of the most-popular characters, and also one of the people who the writers have invested the most into. This role made Colfer a star, and afforded him the opportunity to be a best-selling author and get a screenplay for “Struck By Lightning” off of the ground.

20th Century Fox, who produces the show, released the following statement:

“We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer’s Twitter account has been hacked. Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season.”

Now, do you really blame some of the media for jumping on this story based on a tweet? It’s easy to, since you never want to be misled. Then again, you want to be able to trust that Twitter has its security together enough to prevent things like this from happening, and there are few sources as trusted as the person behind the role.
