‘Big Brother 16’ houseguest spotlight: Will Caleb Reynolds charm his way to a win?

Caleb -Every season there are one or two “enigma contestants” on “Big Brother” that you form an early impression of, and then they sometimes come out and surprise you by being almost nothing like you expected them to be going into the game. A good example of that last season was Judd, who we thought was going to be just some party guy who turned out to be a much more cerebral player than we first thought he would. On the flip side, we at least thought Jenn City was going to do something going into season 13.

Caleb Reynolds is one of these same sort of guys in that he doesn’t seem like a huge fan of the show (he openly admits to watching past seasons in sequester in his interview with Big Jeff), but he does seem to have some sort of mind for the game. This makes him an interesting one to watch.

Name – Caleb Reynolds

Age – 26

Occupation – Adventure hunting guide

Location – Hopkinsville, Kentucky

Strengths – He seems to be very sociable, and understands how the game works to a certain extent despite not being a huge fan. His “bobber strategy,” while sounding completely stupid, actually makes a little bit of sense. He does not want anyone to take him particularly serious as a threat, so he wants to be associated with the person getting the blood on their hands (the fishing hook) rather than the one actually at the center of the action. This is something that Andy did better than almost anyone last season.

Weaknesses – Caleb’s a little too arrogant, and we could also see him getting shellshocked and blowing a gasket at some point. This is a guy who is probably used to being on the prowl outdoors, and he now has to suddenly get accustomed to being stuck in a house with people from all walks of life. He’s also a little too interested in a showmance. It’s better to be laid-back about that sort of thing and don’t try too hard to make it happen.

Past “Big Brother” comparison – There’s a tiny bit of Jeremy arrogance from last season in him that has us worried, but he reminds us most of all of Emmett from “Big Brother Canada,” and not just because he has a cowboy hat. Neither party came into the house huge fans, but they both seemed to be quick studies in terms of how to play the game. They are alpha males who understood that having big characters and other alpha males around for a while can be a good thing.

Prediction – Caleb probably will be the target of some flirtation, and he may last a little longer than we thought he would before watching his video interview. We don’t know if he is likable enough to win, but he could be a presence throughout the season and on the jury.
