ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7: Nathan Fillion’s funny take on Rick’s future

Castle -Given that we are in the “Castle‘ offseason, sometimes one simple message or responsible can lead to us going down a rabbit hole of conversation. That is in many ways what the following story is really all about.

Nathan Fillion is an expert tweeter, and one of the many reasons why you should follow him on social media is simply because you are often going to receive back some pretty funny responses. But what really got people upset on the internet this week was when someone asked him how he wants to see “Castle” end, and he responded by tweeting that “Castle dies, Derrick Storm style.”

Given that the Castle character is already not in good shape right now, this response led to a whole wave of panic for many fans online, but here is the kicker for those who follow the Richard Castle books: Derrick Storm isn’t actually dead. He merely faked his own death, and the returned later using a false name. In the end, this feels like a pretty clever wink at diehard fans from Fillion, and also a pretty funny way to approach what is a question he mostly is asked several times a day.

The humor continued later when someone asked why he wants to see Castle, and he responded by saying “so no one else can ever play him.” This is just a pure joke, and a great one at that. We don’t think that there is really anything to ever worry about here.

In the end, the one person who will actually decide the fate of Rick is creator Andrew W. Marlowe, and there is no situation that we envision the character dying at the end of this. It has just been too crazy of a journey.
