‘Switched at Birth’ season 3 spoilers: Interviews and Derrick Coleman

Switched at Birth -Switched at Birth” excels at a number of different things, but one of the more obvious ones is finding new ways to constantly highlight important issues and people within the deaf community. Not everyone may know the name Derrick Coleman, for example, but you certainly will by the time that the third episode of the ABC Family’s third season, entitled “Oh, Future,” airs.

Coleman is the first deaf offensive player within the NFL, and he also happens to be a Super Bowl champion thanks to playing for the Seattle Seahawks. It is obviously not a surprise that he has a place in this show, and you will see him when this story airs on Monday, June 30. There are some other important story details out there not related to Coleman, and you can of course see all of that and then some in the official synopsis below:

When she discovers Melody is considering an out-of-state move that would take Emmett with her, Bay encourages Emmett to strengthen his relationship with his father. But a visit with Emmett’s dad reveals news that may change their relationship altogether. Kathryn and John clash with Regina over funding Daphne’s college expenses, while Daphne interviews for a Latina college scholarship.

“Meanwhile, Mary Beth surprises Travis when she tracks down his hero, Super Bowl Champion Derrick Coleman, at a local restaurant.”

The network is doing a pretty good job of keeping the status of Bay and Emmett fairly ambiguous in these press releases, given that this is something that will be addressed a little bit more in-depth when the show returns on Monday night.
