‘Sherlock’ season 4: Could Benedict Cumberbatch’s latest commitment be something strange?
Following Benedict Cumberbatch’s career is certainly exciting, at least given that the actor is routinely handed opportunities to do a variety of cool and interesting things. He’s voiced a dragon, been in the “Star Trek” universe, and his latest geek endeavor may be one of the strangest ones of all.
According to a new report from Deadline, the actor is one of the principal faces being currently considered now for a new adaptation of the popular Marvel character Doctor Strange, with Tom Hardy being one of the other big contenders. This is a character that comes at least in part from the brain of Stan Lee, the most prolific comic creator out there. It also happens to be one of the few characters that has yet to be completely represented on the big screen the way that it should be.
So what does any of this have to do with our beloved “Sherlock“? We know that there are some out there who could worry right away that this could be the thing if it lands that keeps Benedict from being able to do the BBC series, but we really do not look at it in such a way. This is another opportunity for him to take a step forward in his career, and with the flexible schedule that “Sherlock” can employ, we don’t see one thing taking away from the other. The bigger obstacle is making sure everyone is free at the same time, and that there is another great story that is worthy of bringing Cumberbatch together with Martin Freeman and the rest of the cast.
