Miss USA 2014: Was Miss Nevada Nia Sanchez. Miss North Dakota Audra Mari the winner?
Tonight, NBC played host to the annual Miss USA Pageant, this time in Baton Rouge. There were of course swimsuits, gowns, questions, and plenty of other moments that had Twitter abuzz.
What was the strange part of this pageant to us? Mostly, it was just seeing some of the women having to answer super-serious questions while there was exceptionally cheesy music playing in the background. We don’t fully understand it, but that is just the way that this show works.
At the end of the day, we were left with a final six of Miss Florida (Brittany Oldehoff), Miss Georgia (Tiana Griggs), Miss Iowa (Carlyn Bradarich, voted on via Twitter), Miss Louisiana (Brittany Guidry), Miss Nevada (Nia Sanchez), and Miss North Dakota (Audra Mari). Earlier in the night, Sanchez was labeled by many to be one of the favorites to win, which is interesting given that her home city of Las Vegas was a recent setting for the event.
Ultimately here are the results:
- 5th Runner-Up – Miss Iowa
- 4th Runner-Up – Miss Florida
- 3rd Runner-Up – Louisiana
- 2nd Runner-Up – Georgia
- 1st Runner-Up – North Dakota
- Winner – Nevada
So in the end, we had a pretty not-so-surprising end to a night that certainly could have had much more drama in it if it wanted to really make us happy. As a matter of fact, we found ourselves pulling for North Dakota to win mostly because we see that being something that would have really put the state on the map in a way that it often isn’t. In the end, though, she will perform the duties in the event that Sanchez cannot.

At the beginning of the show, I usually quickly select my favorites(its easy to select many). Three of my pics ended in 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. I agree that Audra Mari should have been first. It is easily seen that some states have many winners(because of preparations) over states having few contest winners. Its too bad that the best women aren’t being chosen, but the best hair, makeup, poise, costume & charm schools are being chosen.

North Dakota’s Audra Mari has more exotic beauty than Nevada’s Nia Sanchez in my opinion. However Miss Sanchez answered a very favorable question in her experience area, personal safety, with poise and confidence. Most of the year is hard work for Miss USA where character and poise will be tested. Unfortunately, at times Miss Dakota did not look confident. Miss Dakota could still be a big winner in entertainment with her stunning beauty. I feel the right woman won.

North Dakota Audra should have won! She deserved the crown and so does the State of a North Dakota, finally!

Audra Mari was well deserving of the crown, Nia Sanchez is sort of Plain Jane, won’t hold up on an international level. Audra Mari exotic beauty would have been a better representation for USA, globally.

Trying to find the music playing in the background during the question and answer part, any clue is appreciated.
