‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Casting notices for Elsa, Anna, more from ‘Frozen’

After weeks of speculation in regards to who could be playing Elsa on “Once Upon a Time” season 4, we come today bearing great news: The show is finally getting set to cast the role!

According to TVLine, the series is now in the process of casting three important characters for the new season in Elsa, her younger sister Anna, and Kristoff. The character breakdown below for Elsa is very interesting, given that it gives you at least one interesting piece of information that indicates where the casting department is looking:

“The Queen of Arendelle, this late-20s/early-30s beauty long struggled to control her ‘chilling’ powers and even unleashed upon her town an eternal winter during her coronation. Ultimately, she realized that the key to controlling her powers is love — namely, her bond with sister Anna — and now she is aware of the threat she poses if she were to lose control of her magic again.”

There is a distinction here when it comes to Elsa’s age that is important, since aging her up a few years as the show is doing basically enables them to go after a larger pool of well-known actresses rather than just potentially casting a virtual unknown. We recently posted an entire list of people capable of playing the role, and we feel like most of them still apply.

When it comes to a total episode count, Elsa right now is projected to appear in nine episodes, and we project that these are going to be all in the first half of the season given the split format. Meanwhile, both Anna and Kristoff will appear in smaller arcs that support this character.
