‘Criminal Minds’ season 10 spoilers: Boss hopes for more Jane Lynch
“Criminal Minds” season 10 may still be in the early going as far as the writing process goes, but there is one thing that some people inside that room want to see coming up: More of Jane Lynch!
There was an episode this past season that came close to bringing the “Glee’ star back, at least in that Spencer Reid was in a position where she could have appeared … and probably would have, were it not for Jane’s commitments elsewhere. However, there may be more time for her to show up moving forward depending on what the Fox musical comedy has in store for her.
Speaking to TV Guide, showrunner Erica Messer makes her hopes clear when it comes to getting Jane back:
“I’ve been dying to revisit Jane Lynch’s character forever, and now that Glee’s going to be in its last season that might be more possible … She’s at the top of our list.”
The reason that we feel like such a gig could be possible is simply because it’s not like “Criminal Minds” is going to be giving her a ten-episode arc or anything. At most, she would probably be asked to come in for a couple of episodes, since this is not a show to tell many long-form stories. They are almost as procedural on anything on network TV, and the most you’ll get out of them is maybe a three-parter.
“Glee” is probably only going to have around 10-13 episodes for its final season, and depending on how it is structured, we have a hard time thinking that Jane will be involved in all of them.

Please, please, please figure out a way to bring Jane Lynch back for as many episodes as possible. She gives a stellar performance as Diana Reid; and she and MGG have incredible chemistry. I must give credit where credit is due. The writers have done a great job with attracting guest stars who play well off of the regulars (C. Thomas Howell – The Reaper – is still my favorite). Bellamy Young (Beth) was the only failure (disastrous); and the writers can redeem themselves by sending her packing. Hotch and Jack (and especially the CM fans) deserve better as we approach Season 10. I’m on the fence about bringing in a new agent. I secretly harbor the hope that Paget Brewster will return from time to time to remind us of “the way things were”.

I would love to see Jane Lynch back as Reid’s Mom. I also very much would like to see Paget Brewster back and not some new agent or one you tried already, the ones tried were not good fits and the ones mentioned are worse fits. Get over it and bring Brewster back.
