‘Orphan Black’ season 2, episode 7 review: Alison confronts Donnie, Leekie in trouble

Orphan BlackThis has been a pretty eventful season of “Orphan Black” and with Cosima becoming sicker, Alison in rehab, Helena off with the cult and Sarah trying to uncover the truth we have a lot of ground to cover, so let’s jump into this week’s episode and see what unfolds.

Leekie learns that Ethan is alive from Paul and feels that Rachel is too entangled to make smart choices. Mrs. S visits Leekie saying that she has all of Ethan and Susan’s early research – everything he’s missing and will give him the information and Ethan if he leaves Kira alone.

When Rachel gets to see her father, he tells her everything including that Leekie killed her mother Susan. Rachel goes to Leekie’s office to confront him and he tells her that Susan and Ethan tried to run away with her so he had to stop them. Rachel offers to spare Leekie, telling him to go somewhere and disappear even though she was ordered to kill him by the higher ups.

Trusting Victor more and more, Alison decides to unburden herself and tells him the truth about how Aynsley died, but she quickly learns his involvement with the police and calls Felix for help. When confronted, Victor won’t budge until Felix brings up Sarah’s name and he wants to see her so he can apologize for what he’s done to her, but when he sees her he tells her that  he wants her back. Felix spikes his tea to make sure that Victor passes out and misses his meeting with the detective.

When family day goes down at rehab, Donnie walks in on Sarah and Alison together and she calls her husband out on being her monitor and spills that Sarah is her clone. As it turns out Donnie actually didn’t know that Alison was a clone and didn’t realize he was a monitor. He claims he signed up for a program called long term social metrics and that the subjects couldn’t know what was going on. Alison tells him off, revealing the horrible things that they did to her and Donnie takes matter into his own hands, meeting up with Leekie to confront him. As he tells Leekie that he quits, the gun he’s waving around goes off and kills Leekie by accident.

Cosima has continued with the treatment, but when she finds out Delphine has been lying to her about who the donor of the stem cells is (Kira) and that for her to continue treatment that they will need to bring Kira, she throws her out of the lab. Cosima calls Sarah to tell her everything and Kira overhears and pulls out her own tooth to help. Sarah decides to take Kira into the lab leaving Kal behind.

It was a great reveal to see that Donnie honestly didn’t know that Alison was a clone, or just how invasive the monitoring really was. It turned us around on Donnie a bit and are rooting for him to work things out with Allison. Episode grade: A
