‘Bitten’ season 2: Laura Vandervoot series will return to Syfy
Big news for all of you “Bitten” fans out there: You will be able to howl with delight at the show coming back on Syfy for another season.
The network confirmed that they have acquired the next ten-episode season of the Canadian series starring Laura Vandervoot on Friday, and said that it will premiere at some point in 2015. Here is what Chris Regina of the network had to say per Variety:
“’Bitten’ is a fast-paced and edgy series which has found a growing and passionate fan base on our channel. We’re delighted to bring the series back to Syfy next year.”
Meanwhile, Prentiss Fraser of distributor eOne television added the following:
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the tremendous support and enthusiasm from fans across social media since the debut of ‘Bitten.’ We look forward to working with the talented cast and crew on another compelling season and continuing our partnership with Syfy in bringing the series back to viewers in the U.S. next year.”
Like with “Continuum” and “Lost Girl,” “Bitten” is one of those series that has done well in building an audience in America, and has helped Syfy to continue being able to put original programming on their network that is in line with their genre. The network has been maligned at times for drifting from their roots, but with these series and some of their new shows that they have coming down the pipe, we probably feel better right now about the future of Syfy than we have over the past five years. Plus, there’s also the potential cash cow that is “Sharknado 2: The Second One” a little later this summer.
