‘Supernatural’ season 9 finale shocker: Did you see the Dean twist coming?
On tonight’s season 9 finale for “Supernatural,” there was more than just Cas attempting to find more grace, and Gadreel actually choosing to become a martyr in order to help Misha Collins’ character escape his prison.
The biggest shocker was reserved for the final minutes, when we learn that the First Blade turned Dean into a demon of all things. Earlier, Dean had been killed by none other than Metatron as he tried to make a bold move in order to thwart the current ruler of Heaven.
Is this going to lead to a pretty crazy tenth season? We have a good feeling that it will. While we have seen characters in purgatory before and also Sam possessed by Gadreel earlier this year, this is different than anything else. Not only is Dean one of the very things now that the hunters have tried so hard to destroy, but Sam isn’t even aware of it just yet. While we have seen some shocking twists in the past regarding the Winchesters and the sometimes-difficult-to-grasp subject of the truth, this is something that is different for them. We also know now why the actors have been so excited.
Hopefully, this finale is going to propel the show into a somewhat-different direction, at least in that it could push the show a little ways away from what has happened with the angels; you can still have Castiel doing some other things, and at this point we feel the show should transition back to some of its basics after so long focusing on other parts of the universe.
