‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: John Barrowman new series regular, tweets Stephen Amell
While you may have to wait when it comes to getting some answers for the third season of “Arrow,” you can stop speculating about one thing: Whether or not Malcolm Merlyn is going to be around to continue to deliver his particular brand of evil.
In a post on Twitter, Stephen Amell confirmed that John Barrowman is going to be a regular throughout the entire season ahead, which is beyond fantastic news. Not only is Malcolm a great character and adversary for Oliver Queen, but John also happens to be one of the most interesting and delightful guys that you could hope to get on a show. He just seems to bring such a great energy to everything that he does, and there are a ton of interesting stories to tell here.
Barrowman’s promotion all but ensures that we will see more of Thea’s time with him, and how being with a pretty evil man could potentially rub off on her to a certain degree … even if she tried to kill him earlier in “The Unthinkable.” We said in our podcast this morning that we’d love to see more of Thea’s evolution here, so hopefully this will not be pushed to the side in the slightest.
While this is not confirmed, we have to assume that the end of Manu Bennett as a regular is over … at least for now. While Slade Wilson is alive, we cannot quite imagine that he will make many appearances trapped at the bottom of a hatch.
The only question now to us if we are going to see a promotion come for Cynthia Addai-Robinson, who plays Amanda Waller on the show. We presume that her role moving forward will be a substantial one, given that Oliver has been moved from the island over to Hong Kong.
