‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Charlize Theron, Taran Killam have fun

SNL -This weekend marks yet another new “Saturday Night Live” episode, and this one has a host that is coming back to the show for the first time in 14 years in Charlize Theron. Why the long layoff? It’s hard to say, but this is something that Taran Killam has a little bit of fun with in the new promo for this weekend’s episode.

For the most part, this promo is one of the more mellow ones that has been released from the show in a while, since Charlize looks relaxed and is not completely all over the place like some other past hosts have been. However, she does get pretty silly at one point doing a whole bit on “modelface” that is probably the best thing that these two come up with while promoting the episode as a whole.

Do we think that Charlize will be an excellent host for the show? Admittedly, that is something that we are still trying to figure out. She’s not as high-profile anymore as last week’s Andrew Garfield, but she does have a history of performing in a variety of different genres and could use this as a platform to get into some more stuff. The main thing that we are worried about right now is simply that this is the second show in between three new episodes, and you have to wonder if some of the good stuff right now is being saved for the season finale. That features former cast member Andy Samberg, and you have to think that there will be at least one Digital Short revival that is enclosed at some point during the episode.
